Disk - Jet Connection in Cygnus X - 3
We present the results of a detailed correlation study between the soft X-ray, hard X-ray, and radio emission (obtained from RXTE ASM , BATSE, and GBI observations, respectively) of the bright radio emitting Galactic X-ray binary Cygnus X-3. We detect a very strong positive correlation between the soft X-ray and radio emission during the low-hard and minor flaring periods of the source, and an ...
متن کاملCygnus X - 3 in outburst : quenched radio emission , radiation losses and variable local opacity
We present multiwavelength observations of Cygnus X-3 during an extended outburst in 1994 February-March. Intensive radio monitoring at 13.3, 3.6 & 2.0 cm is complemented by observations at (sub)millimetre and infrared wavelengths, which find Cyg X-3 to be unusually bright and variable, and include the first reported detection of the source at 0.45 mm. We report the first confirmation of quench...
متن کاملOrbital Dynamics of Cygnus X - 3
Orbital-phased-resolved infrared spectra of Cygnus X-3 in outburst and quiescence, including tomo-graphic analysis, are presented. We confirm the phasing of broad He ii and N v lines in quiescence, such that maximum blue shift corresponds to the X-ray minimum at Φ = 0.00 ± 0.04. In outburst, double-peaked He i structures show a similar phasing with two significant differences: (a) although vary...
متن کاملComments on the superluminal motion in Cygnus X - 3
Following the recent discovery that Cyg X-3 exhibits superluminal motion, the implications of superluminal expansion and contraction are investigated. We propose that the effect is due to either a propagating photon pattern or to outwardly moving shells illuminated by an intense beam of radiation.
